Timber Internal Sliding Door Systems in Detail

Innovative solutions to real life problems

At SlidingbiFolds we take pride in listening to our client's needs and providing solutions that are cost effective and  efficient as they are beautiful. In recent years we it has become clear that there is a need and demand for an insulated internal sliding door system.

The main problem clients have described is that their existing conservatory or sunroom looses a vast amount of heat during the winter months and causes the adjoining room or the rest of the house to feel cold during this period. In warm weather this can cause the opposite problem and can and cause uncomfortable overheating.

We have spent time and investment, developing and creating an insulated internal interior sliding door system that solves both of these problems.  Using double glazed units in a fully sealed sliding hardware system we prevent the cold from penetrating during the winter months and reflecting heat during the summer months.

Sliding biFolds Internal timber sliding door

This is a more cost effective and efficient solution to replacing an existing conservatory or insulating a sunroom and given the gorgeous range of door profiles we create it will also add character and value to the property in the long-term .

What Slidingbifold’s products not only meet the new stringent changes in Building Regulations 2010 (UK) 2011 (ROI) ... we already surpass further changes planned for 2013.

Slidingbifolds has a sliding hardware system for almost any internal environment.  We offer a range of different hardware, including systems that are either top-hung or bottom-rolling, this allows us to meet the individual needs of our residential and commercial clients alike.

Most of our internal sliding patio doors are top hung allowing a greatly reduced threshold or a completely flush transition between rooms. Where the structural head is not sufficiently secure to allow a top-hung system we can use one of our many bottom rolling systems.

Without the need for a sliding door track no costly tile or concrete cutting is required for installation. Based on SlidingbiFolds standard hardware system for external applications, it offers the same smooth operation and configuration flexibility.

BESPOKE DOOR DESIGN

Slidingbifolds innovative rolling system provides symmetry to the door design and simplifies the door manufacturing process, we offer fully glazed systems, partially glazed and solid panels.

NO SLIDING DOOR TRACK

No track (guide) means seamless transitions between indoor spaces and no costly tile or concrete cutting when required.

SIMPLE ADJUSTMENT

Easy screwdriver access and simple vertical adjustment to either the head of a top hung system or the bogey wheels of a bottom rolling system, allows adjustment of 10 mm making our hardware the most practical system for sliding doors.

OVERSIZED INTERNAL PANELS

We can manufacture top hung internal sliding doors to 3300mm high by almost any width up to an industry leading 300kg.  We can also offer bottom rolling sliding doors to 3300mm high with an impressive maximum weight of 300kg per door.

INSULATION

Combining our state of the art hardware with recommended exterior weather-seals and double glazed units we can create an insulated internal sliding door system.

SECURITY

Slidingbifolds systems incorporate locking screws, secure tracks/guides and non-removable components.  We can also add additional 3 or 5 point locking systems to our sliding interior doors for any additional security that is required.  Our dropbolts are specifically designed to use with our sliding doors, so that can keep one fixed on a 2 sliding one fixed configuration.  So are substantial, robust and lockable so our sliding door systems built to withstand a sustained physical attack.

Your new timber sliding door is supplied fully factory finished in your choice of translucent stain finish or specified RAL colour. To maintain the integrity of the product it is important that all timber bifold doors are factory finished. Many suppliers offer an unfinished product which means you are responsible for applying at least three coats of wood stain or paint which can be very time consuming and could compromise the warranty if not applied correctly.

Standard Spray Finishes

Our timber sliding doors are factory sprayed with three coats of 250 microns per coat which provides a finish comparable with up to 15 coats of brush applied paint. Factory finished doors are low maintenance and have a very long life span of up to 10 years before they require attention.

Translucent Stain Finishes

Choose from a translucent wood stain from the Morrell’s wood finishing range which provides a high quality finish whilst protecting the timber against every day use. The natural colour of the wood can be perfectly preserved by using Morrell’s 2 pack lacquer, which is available from 10% sheen (deep matt) to 90% sheen (high gloss) in a variety of different wood stains. We have a sample range that we can post to you before confirming your order

A few RAL colours may require an additional set-up fee, please check with us prior to ordering. Slidingbifolds timber internal sliding configuration

Depending on the requirements and design of your interior sliding door we offer a wide range of possible timber and glazing options. As standard in our most common internal sliding doors we use 6.4mm laminated (safety glass). This can come as clear, tinted, sandblasted and obscure. To view all the possible colour configurations please click the link . If the internal sliding doors are required to be insulated we can use our standard Low-E double glazed units (1.2 U-Value).

We use PLANITHERM

PLANITHERM is Europe's best selling range of high performance low-emissivity glass (low-E glass). The glass utilises the very latest advancements in thermally insulating glass coating technology.

Specially manufactured by Saint-Gobain Glass for the UK market, PLANITHERM products are specifically designed to keep interiors more comfortable in the winter months and improve your home's energy efficiency.

The thermal insulation provided by low-E double glazing is three times more efficient than that of standard double glazing and PLANITHERM products are the ideal low-e solution to meeting and exceeding the newly revised Building Regulations energy efficiency requirements.

SlidingbiFolds Laminated Glass

PLANITHERM products use a special coating to reflect heat from domestic heat sources back into the room, rather than allowing it to escape through the windows. At the same time, this coating allows free heat and light from the sun to pass through the glass, warming the room and further contributing to the energy efficiency of the windows and helping to reduce your energy bills.

Additional Options

The PLANITHERM range can be combined with many other Saint-Gobain Glass products, providing a multitude of high performance, multi-functional glazing options, including:

 • Self-cleaning and/or solar control glazing
 • Acoustic insulation
 • Obscured and/or decorative glazing

This combination of excellent thermal insulation with high solar heat gain makes PLANITHERM the most energy efficient window glass available and the best possible choice for energy savings
